Blockchain: Content is So Plentiful That You're Going to Get Paid to Watch

Welcome to the content tipping point. There's such an abundance that it's getting tougher to grow a critical mass of viewers. Enter the blockchain. This week I spoke to a number of CEO's with new projects intended to make content consumers the beneficiary of interacting with content. And, as typical of the cutting edge, many of the new projects paving the way for this transformation come from the Adult Entertainment World.

The developer of the crypto service for Playboy TV, Global Blockchain, is building out the platform with a digital wallet based on the Vice Industry Token. CEO and President Shidan Gouran says the company is also working on a token-based e-sports and gaming consortium of 12 gaming companies (400 million players). Playing a game and winning tokens makes you eligible to play all of the games on the network. “Blockchains are good at turning networks that were hard to monetize into value,” he says.

Christian Ferri, CEO of BlockStar, an incubator for ICOs that's invested in gambling content, agrees. “Innovation happens when companies try new things,” he says. Film lovers can go to the new blockchain based TaTaTu, a blockchain-based platform that offers financial rewards (in the form of TaTaTu tokens) for audience engagement. If content from Russia is your thing, then join Viuly.io, where you're paid to watch or post in the site's token coins. Brave Browers will let you opt out of ads but pay you in tokens when you watch them, and Refereum is one of many new ICOs that will pay you to watch people gaming. Got a blockchain idea that's transforming entertainment consumption. We want to hear from you info@livingindigitaltimes.com.

So of course, we gotta ask, if content creators are getting paid, viewers of content are getting paid, and those engaged with content are getting paid, all with tokens for a specific network, who's buying food for dinner? Welcome to the future where tokens may not get you everything you need to survive, but you will be content rich.

Robin Raskin Joins Toy Association's Creativity Council

Play minus creativity and collaboration is like an exercise in self mastur... nevermind, I won't go there. Suffice it to say that I've been asked by the Toy Association to join its Creative Factor, a group co-founded by Brett Klitsch, a genius when it comes to thinking creatively about the kids' business. I'll be joining him along with Warren Tuttle, president of the United Inventors Association Board of Directors, Billy Langsworthy, co-founder of Mojo Nation in the UK, and Matt Nuccio, owner of Design Edge. Together we'll bring fresh ideas to Toy Association programs that help developers, inventors and the industry overall.

Consensual Sex: Finding True Love is Tough When All You Do is Work

I have a great mentor who likes to say, "if you're surrounded by smart people and working with them round the clock, it's pretty likely you're going to find yourself in a relationship with one of them." I could fill a book with people who've met their soulmates on the job, with Bill and Melinda Gates as the headline chapter.

When Brian Krzanich, Intel's CEO, was forced to resign because of a consensual relationship he had with a coworker, my first reaction that the sexless workplace had gone too far. My second was more conspiratorial. Maybe losing Krzanich will help Intel get their competitive mojo going. Third, I wondered what Andy Grove, former chairman and one of the best CEOs I've ever known, would have thought. He met his wife when he was a busboy and she was a waitress.

Deepak Chopra and the Delta Club

On the way back from CES Asia, my stopover in Seattle proved transcendental. I had a four hour layover in Seattle. The Delta Sky Club there is home to the Asanda Spa, and it offers the Deepak Chopra guided relaxation experience designed for travelers. Needless to say I was skeptical as the attendant placed surround sound headsets over my ears and warned me to keep my eyes shut as she places special VR glasses on my eyes. And then it began. OK.. it was a bit hokey being transported via new age music, tropical rain forest scenes, and flashing auras, but the bottom line is that I came out of the experience 100 percent reinvigorated after a 12 hour flight.
